Quality Engineer

Summary of PositionUses and improves existing quality processes in collaboration with the Value stream team to sustain and/or improve quality of manufacturing, supplier quality and quality processes for new product development. Driving product quality improvements while developing an understanding of the Cost of Poor Quality to help eliminate waste and meet organizational goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate field and internal failures by utilizing problem solving and root cause analysis tools and techniques. Aide in the research and disposition of Non-Conformance Material Reviews; develops, communicates, and coordinates instructions for rework of materials while minimizing cost to company. Leads and participates in ongoing improvements in safety, quality and capacity through strong partnerships with Operations leadership, as well as by engaging all Operations employees. Leads quality technicians in day to operational and tactical execution of work responsibilities and drives engagement of team Assumes responsibility for capital planning, CER creations and approvals, capital project timing and implementation, capital spending and budgeting of quality and process related activities Utilize problem solving techniques to lead projects in order to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, thru put, and inventory. Builds partnerships, educating, developing, auditing, reporting out on and driving improvements of the supplier base. Collaborate with sustaining, NPD, and design engineering for identified improvement in ergonomics, quality control/repeatability, and design for manufacturing concepts. Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including:
PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP) and Project Management Develops and implements recommendations for improving efficiency and profitability of plant Assist in machine, gauging, tooling and equipment procurement process including:
quoting, supplier selection, machine specification, run-off, installation, training and launch Delivering advanced Quality planning activities (APQP) for new products. Effectively communicates and collaborates with all levels in the organization, as well as customers and suppliers, to achieve key annual objectives. Participates in developing the overall quality strategy. Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements / Certifications Bachelor's degree in quality, mechanical, electrical, industrial or other equivalent engineering discipline. 7-10 years of Quality Experience across plants. Experience / Skill Requirements Evidence of knowledge of the Quality Sciences -APQP, Problem solving, sampling, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, PDCA. Proven success as a proactive, collaborative influencer creating a unified team toward a common quality performance goal. Proven lean experience. ASQ quality certification - CQT, CQE, CQM, CRE a plus. Six sigma greenbelt or black belt a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to perform repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs.
