Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN) is the business-to-business arm of the Company. The group establishes partnerships with entities seeking access to the Company's inventory of hotels and other assets through their own web presence. The model is one of revenue sharing, and there is thus little in the way of upfront costs to the Company in accepting any customer. There are thus a scaled range of engagements depending on anticipated gross billing volume. For small customers EAN offers self-service signup and access to APIs; for mid-to-large customers there is an increasingly intense direct sales model and a willingness to customize a response to a request for proposal.
We are seeking a talented Technical Product Manager / Business Analyst, to drive new product features, conversion improvements, and enhancements to the customer experience. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in transactional e-commerce, preferably working closely with APIs. The Technical Product Manager is a key member of the Product Organization that is responsible for defining business needs and actively managing a wide variety of projects. Working in one or more functional areas, you will be responsible for launching new features, taking them from high level concept design to operational delivery. This person must want to delight their customers, both internal and external.
Working in an Agile Scrum environment, you will gather detailed functional requirements, collaborate with business stakeholders, UI designers, software design engineers, and software testers and administer these in the Product backlog. The successful individual will work closely with external vendors and internal departments, across many functional areas namely: Product and Technology, Financial Planning and Analysis, Customer Operations, Legal, Marketing, Global Sales, Global Account Management and other relevant stakeholders to understand the business needs and requirements and help define the product specifications. You will have strong leadership and communication skills, customer centricity, project management experience, problem solving and data analysis skills, and experience facilitating and implementing change.
You will be asked to participate throughout the entire development lifecycle from the initial planning phase to post release performance tracking. You will have sufficient technical skills to understand software architecture and functional design. You will also have strong interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with all disciplines and levels in the organization.
Responsibilities:
oManaging both business and functional requirements
oGather detailed functional requirements, collaborate with business stakeholders, UI designers, software design engineers, and software testers to identify feature details and administer them in the Scrum product backlog
oWorking closely with the Tech Lead and Development Manager on technical feasibility
oMaking functional and technical design recommendations
oDesign or adapt processes as the basis for gathering business requirements
oCreating Agile user stories and use cases
oCreating functional specification documents
oEnsuring functional specifications match business goals
oAs Scrum Product Owner, attend all the relevant Scrum meetings including the daily stand up
oNegotiating with Development Manager, Project Manager and Product Manager on features and functionalities to be included in each release
oPerforming skilled stakeholder management
oProviding visibility to the project team and the business team on any functionality-related changes or issues
oProviding functional dependency coordination
oManaging the functional risks of the project
oManaging functional pipeline view of end to end dedicated functional area
oIdentifying functional gaps and conflicts in requirements and driving toward a solution
oSurfacing technical and scope trade-offs required to allow Business Team to make informed decisions
oManaging triage for functional defects and work closely with the Development Manager on resolution
Qualifications:
oAgile Scrum certified desirable
oAbility to creatively solve challenging business/technology problems
oSeveral years experience gathering business requirements and turning them into detailed functional design specifications preferably in an Agile Development setting
oMust be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize workload effectively, and thrive in a complex environment
oHigh degree of competency with project management including: issue and risk identification and management, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communication of overall project status
oProven ability to work with cross functional teams to drive the implementation of new features as well as resolve operational issues
oFamiliarity with web-based product development including tiered architecture, data organization, and performance optimization.
oStrong analytical mindset
oA proven track record of delivering and operating large-sized internet-scale software systems
oExcellent oral/written communication skills
oTravel industry experience a plus
